1938 Dodge Business Coupe
In my moms basement
One of my good friends in college had a '36 Dodge Pick-up that he had inherited from his father. That was the funnest little truck to drive around in. While on break one quarterin 1977 I saw an ad in the Oregonian for a 1937 Dodge Coupe for $175, so I drove out to a farm and bought what turned out to be a '38 on the spot. A kid had bought it and torn it apart and that is where it sat in a barn.
Unfortunately the kid had conviently "lost all of the emblems and ram off of the hood" and had sold the engine and transmission to someone else. The only emblem left was on the dash and had been ruined by the kid trying to pry it off the dash.
Never the less it seemed like a good buy at the time. The car was originally Gunmetal Metalic
The car had been painted Orange at some point but oddly had had the dash painted blue??
Based on the shape of the interior I would tend to believe the speedometer is accurate. I have been collecting parts ever since and as of lately I have been more energized. I am still missing the front and rear emblems and the crankhole cover. I recently bought froma new found friend in NY a spare set of gauges and a Motorola Radio. The car is fairly rust free eexcept for the rear roll pan which has some major rust that will need to be replaced. I will probably restore it to look original but put a modern drive train in the car. Time will tell.
