July 30th Arkansas
Post
Today we drove over
to Arkansas County to visit Arkansas Post
Before we headed to Arkansas Post
we tried unsuccessfully to do some genealogy in Jefferson County.
While there we noticed that the Childrens Library had the walls colorfully
painted, giving Glorene some ideas for her classroom
-
Glorene spotted this view of the
Bayou near Arkansas Post as we drove over a bridge and we went back and
took photo's of it. This Bayou leads to the Arkansas River and we
learned contained Gators. This is quite a departure from the Soy
and Rice fields much more prevelant in the area
-
At the Arkansas Post Museum they
had this childs playhouse from the 30's that was built to scale and fully
functional. My daughter Carolyn would love it
-
Here is an inside shot of the dollhouse
-
The Museum has a painting of Glorene's
G Grandmother Elphira Ruffin Simpson
It was donated by one of Glorene's
cousins years ago and we wished we had it in our possesion rather than
in a museum
-
It hit 102 degree's here today
It was so hot that even the trees
headed for the water to cool off, or so it seemed
Tomorrow is the last day of our
vacation and we are going to spend it at the Arkansas State Capital doing
genealogy
