Today (July 26) was spent wandering
around the Frech Quarter of New Orleans
I wanted to go down to Jackson
Square to take another photo of the church under the morning sun as the
sun was behind it yesterday afternoon
-
Between and behind the buildings
were little courtyards that were very peacefull looking. The backs
of the buildings actually face the street with the fronts facing the courtyard.
Originally, on one side of the courtyard was a stable and on the other
side was the servants quarters
-
Some buildings obviously had not
been restored above the first floor shops
-
This building stood out in that
it's design was more like that of a home, versus the 3 and 4 story buildings
surrounding it. Most buildings were built between 1794 and 1830 after
the fire of New Orleans
-
Now and then we would come across
some street musicians like these
-
This is the Farmers Market.
It was split between produce on one end and gifts on the other end
-
At this point we stopped for lunch
at Cafe Gumbolaya. It was too spicy for Glorene's taste. We
then went back to the Hotel to rest and cool off and plan the rest of our
day
