Due to the number of photo's I
have I will break today into two parts. This is Part 1 which was
our visit to the New Orleans Audubon Zoo
I never thought I would see the day
that Glorene petted a snake. This was a black one similar to the
one we saw in the road the day before
-
The park was quite beautiful, with
Magnolia Tree's abounding
-
We were glad this creature was behind
glass as it was as big as us
-
This is a tree snake like the one in
the childrens book "Verdi". Glorene the teacher noticed that right
away
-
Our favorite exhibit was the Butterfly
House. They were everywhere and you had to be careful where you walked
-
One butterfly in particular was quite
beautiful. It was a large Blue one that would never land and open
its wings. It finally landed on Glorene and I got this photo
-
Of course they had Gators too....
-
They even had a jungle complete with
a mist floor
That concludes our morning. It
was very hot and muggy and we headed for our hotel to check in a rest before
we headed out again to start our tour of New Orleans. Our drive over
to the French Quarter was an interesting one as we took the back streets
from the Zoo and got a good look at parts most folks don't visit. Again
the GPS proved invalueable as the map doesn't show all of the one way streets
and dead ends and no matter where we turned we were still aware of where
we were.
